Oakleaf Hydrangea

Hydrangea quercifolia, Oakleaf hydrangea flowering shrubs put out white flowers in summer that fade to a pinkish-brown in fall. But the plant's inclusion on this list is due to its foliage, not its flowers. Its oak leaf-like foliage turns purple, orange and red in the fall. Tolerant of light shade, oakleaf hydrangea perennial plants achieve a height of 4-6' and a spread of 4-6'.

Limelight Hydrangea

‘Limelight’ flowering shrubs appears to be another well behaved hydrangea that’s easy to grow, not particular about soil or water and a hardy perennial no matter what winter throws its way, from Zones 4-8. Not bad for a landscape specimen. But ‘Limelight’ goes one step further when it bursts into bright green blossoms in the heat of the summer. Large, soft green flowers make a wonderful accent for the golds and blues of late summer gardens and landscapes.
